London, UK (PRWEB UK) 29 January 2013
Dynasty Press, Democrasoft, Inc. (OTC: PinkSheets: DEMO - located in California), and author Peter Jarrette today jointly announced that Jarrette's e-book Brighton Babylon will be the first book in the UK to be released using Democrasoft's unique new WeJIT technology. This will allow readers to communicate directly with the author and with each other from topic-based discussions within the ebook. These discussions are made possible with author-embedded links in the ebook that connect readers and the author in an embedded online discussion space where they can engage with each other in various types of structured discussions.
As announced January 16, 2013 in New York City at the Digital Book World Conference + Expo, Democrasoft was the recipient of this year’s Digital Book World Publishing Innovation Award in the category of best non-fiction ebook for first time author J.D. Messinger's ebook 11 Days in May. According to the Digital Book World website, the award honors “the most innovative ebooks, enhanced ebooks, and book apps in 14 categories. It is the mission of the PIAs to highlight excellent publishers/authors, encourage new thinking, and improve the reading experience in the digital age.”
Peter Jarrette is a UK based internationally published author, artist and magazine columnist who trained at Parsons Art & Design College in Manhattan. He is the co-author of four children’s books published by Little Simon/Simon & Schuster. Jarrette currently lives and works in Brighton and his latest book vividly portrays his experiences while doing so. In Brighton Babylon he celebrates the global hub seaside city, which has not lost its renowned and celebrated dark side, far from it. While living in the faded Regency splendour of PK Heights, the author meets a motley crew of unsavoury hobos and bother boys; Yardie obsessed golden shower webmasters from nearby Crawley; mistakenly racist London hairdressers; strangely scripted market researchers; extemporised shorthaul cabin crew; pushy airline First Officers; politically incorrect new food emporia; a vengeful, crumbling, resort Pier and a locally obsessed, cat-mad press pack.
Brighton Babylon has already received high praise from such UK literary luminaries as the international best selling crime thriller writer Peter James, whose own work knocked the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy off the top of the UK paperback bestseller list. He writes, "Snap Peter Jarrette in half and you’ll find the name Brighton repeated in his bones like in sticks of rock. His glorious evocation is so rich and vivid, you can taste and smell the city on every page." Jarrette does indeed feel deeply connected to Brighton and has embraced the new WeJIT technology as a unique means of communicating his insights about the City to his readers, whether it be in the field of festivals, travel and tourism or debating the best remedies for the homeless of his adopted City.
Brighton Babylon is redolent with dark humour, such that top writer and journalist Julie Burchill believes that, "Peter Jarrette is a shockingly fresh voice offering a modern social commentary poured with humour and served with a splash of poignancy. A Sex and The City for a fresh and funky century." This is perhaps not altogether surprising since Jarrette previously lived in New York where he was friendly with Candace Bushnell for many years. Burchill considers Brighton Babylon to be an "EXCELLENT book" that "will do for my 'burg what SEX AND THE CITY did for NYC."
Jarrette's UK publishers, Dynasty Press, note that as well as participating in debates directly with the author, readers of the Brighton Babylon ebook can forward the URL link for any embedded WeJIT to anyone, through social networks like Facebook or Twitter, even to those who don’t yet have the book and might not have heard of it.
“What’s fascinating is that readers themselves are actually positioned to increase book sales by inviting others to join in specific discussions launched from within the ebook,” said a Dynasty representative. “We believe this is a genuine first in the publishing world."
According to Richard Lang, CEO of Democrasoft, “The opportunity that WeJITs represent for the publishing industry is to recognize that WeJITs can become a portal to new ‘real estate’ within an ebook, where publishers can participate in the benefits of multi-way collaborative discussions within their publications.”
Brighton Babylon is available from Dynasty http://www.dynastypress.co.uk/books-brighton-babylon.html also on Amazon and Apple’s iBookstore.
