Do You Own Brighton’s Best Bitch? Or Hang Out with Brighton’s Coolest Doggy Dude? Then Make Your Way Down to The Boneyard This Weekend!

Grove Lodge Vets hosting Cool Dog Show at World’s Biggest Free Beach & Watersports Festival

This weekend sees the welcome return of one of Brighton & Hove’s favourite annual charity events ‘Paddle Round The Pier’ - held as always - on the beautiful Hove Lawns.

Paddle Round The Pier - or ‘Paddle’ for short - features the very best in watersports, street and urban sports, live music, kids’ entertainment, as well as two big differences to this year’s event.

Firstly, the weather forecast is guaranteed to be bright sunshine and blue skies making it the best place to hang out in town on both Saturday and Sunday, but also – and for the first time ever - there’ll be an area specifically for dogs to enjoy called ‘The Boneyard’, named after the world famous surfing break in Australia and featuring free doggy treats, veterinary and grooming advice, as well as a fun dog show.

Hosted by local independent veterinary group Grove Lodge Vets, The Boneyard’s daily fun dog show will be judged by Grove Lodge Southwick’s vet Marc Abraham choosing winning pooches from classes including ‘Brighton’s Best Bitch’ and ‘Coolest Doggy Dude’, as well as classics like ‘Waggiest Tail’, ‘Child’s Best Friend’, ‘Best Rescue Pooch’ and ‘Best Sausage Catcher.’

Brighton-based vet Marc, who’s also given pet advice on TV shows including Paul O’Grady Show and ITV’s This Morning, says “Me and my fab Grove Lodge Vets team are so excited about ‘Paddle’ this weekend, we can’t wait to meet all the brilliant dogs and their owners, as well as helping to celebrate one of Brighton and Hove’s most popular and coolest outdoor festivals.”

Winners and runners-up of fun dog show classes will receive rosettes, prizes, and a certificate to commemorate the occasion; and there’ll even be a doggy paddling pool to allow your pooch to keep cool in the summer sun!

Grove Lodge Vets, 2013 winners of ‘Best Veterinary Practice’ for high animal welfare standards, and finalists in prestigious Brighton & Hove Business Awards for ‘Best Contribution to the Community’, have clinics in Brighton, Portslade, Southwick, Lancing, Durrington, Tarring, as well as their 24 hour state-of-the-art veterinary hospital in Worthing; all providing the best veterinary care for pets in Sussex as well as giving free weekly school visits to educate pupils about caring for pets and wildlife.

Paddle Round The Pier Fun Dog Show Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th July at The Boneyard, Paddle Village, Hove Lawns, registration £1 charity donation per dog per class, 2-4pm. For more info visit www.GroveLodgeVets.co.uk or www.PaddleRoundThePier.com
