RRP: £12.99
In Brighton and Hove on 17th February, 2013, the hottest ticket in town is going to be the massively overcrowded launch party of Brighton resident celebrity author Peter Jarrette's eagerly anticipated new non-fiction book, Brighton Babylon. Early demand has been so great that an immediate reprint of the paperback is already in hand at Dynasty Press, and with the Kindle edition using Democrasoft's award-winning interactive author/reader WeJit technology for the very first time in the UK Brighton Babylon will make a significant contribution to the global promotion of Brighton as a tourist destination. In its e-book version Jarrette's enthralling stories about the city which have attracted such high praise from his author peers will become only the second in the world to incorporate the WeJIT interactive app.
Brighton is the natural home to a raft of international media and arts celebrities including Adele, David Walliams, Zoe Ball, Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim), Marc Abraham, and Julie Burchill, many of whom will attend the launch party which will be filmed for Latest TV's regular magazine show Brighton Lights. Latest Director Bill Smith is personally committed to the broadcast of the TV adaptation of Brighton Babylon that is currently in development and for which Jarrette is in discussion with production companies.  The city is shortly to acquire its own local terrestrial Channel 8 TV station under Smith's direction.
Jarrette is a monthly diarist for Absolute Brighton Magazine http://www.absolutemagazine.co.uk and a contributor to the Trinidad publication Caribbean BELLE Magazine. He is also a member of a hugely popular BoneyM Tribute band that regularly tours Russia with the singer Chantal Brown, and the band will get together to close the book launch with a number of renditions of Boney M favourites. His dark humour and tales of the city, whose seaside economy relies heavily on tourism, will bring the fascinating attractions of Brighton to the attention of a whole new audience. Brighton rock has never tasted so good!
In Brighton Babylon Jarrette celebrates the global hub seaside city which has not lost the dark side which the work of Graham Greene and other acclaimed writers have made so renowned, far from it. While living in the faded Regency splendour of PK Heights, our author meets a motley crew of unsavoury hobos and bother boys; Yardie obsessed webmasters from nearby Crawley; mistakenly racist London hairdressers; strangely scripted market researchers; extemporised shorthaul cabin crew; pushy airline First Officers; politically incorrect new food emporia; a vengeful, crumbling, resort Pier and a locally obsessed, cat-mad press pack.
Jarrette will further develop some of his book's themes via structured online conversations with his e-book readers. Using WeJITS they will communicate directly with the author and with each other, holding topic-based discussions on the web from within the ebook, and the author-embedded links include such core subjects as views on Brighton's top attractions, the best way to reduce homelessness and Brighton's Pride Festival.
Vibrant, exciting cities like Brighton with their corrupt underbelly are far from exclusive to Britain. It just happens that Brighton is a particularly good example of the many famous cities in the world that have a hub of underground activity where outcasts, drug dealers, sexual deviants and mobsters go to deal under a blanket of secrecy. Therefore, although his book is set in Brighton, its themes are universal and people all over the world can relate to them.
Brighton Babylon is available from Dynasty http://www.dynastypress.co.uk/books-brighton-babylon.html also on Amazon and Apple’s iBookstore.

London, UK (PRWEB UK) 29 January 2013
Dynasty Press, Democrasoft, Inc. (OTC: PinkSheets: DEMO - located in California), and author Peter Jarrette today jointly announced that Jarrette's e-book Brighton Babylon will be the first book in the UK to be released using Democrasoft's unique new WeJIT technology. This will allow readers to communicate directly with the author and with each other from topic-based discussions within the ebook. These discussions are made possible with author-embedded links in the ebook that connect readers and the author in an embedded online discussion space where they can engage with each other in various types of structured discussions.
As announced January 16, 2013 in New York City at the Digital Book World Conference + Expo, Democrasoft was the recipient of this year’s Digital Book World Publishing Innovation Award in the category of best non-fiction ebook for first time author J.D. Messinger's ebook 11 Days in May. According to the Digital Book World website, the award honors “the most innovative ebooks, enhanced ebooks, and book apps in 14 categories. It is the mission of the PIAs to highlight excellent publishers/authors, encourage new thinking, and improve the reading experience in the digital age.”
Peter Jarrette is a UK based internationally published author, artist and magazine columnist who trained at Parsons Art & Design College in Manhattan. He is the co-author of four children’s books published by Little Simon/Simon & Schuster. Jarrette currently lives and works in Brighton and his latest book vividly portrays his experiences while doing so. In Brighton Babylon he celebrates the global hub seaside city, which has not lost its renowned and celebrated dark side, far from it. While living in the faded Regency splendour of PK Heights, the author meets a motley crew of unsavoury hobos and bother boys; Yardie obsessed golden shower webmasters from nearby Crawley; mistakenly racist London hairdressers; strangely scripted market researchers; extemporised shorthaul cabin crew; pushy airline First Officers; politically incorrect new food emporia; a vengeful, crumbling, resort Pier and a locally obsessed, cat-mad press pack.
Brighton Babylon has already received high praise from such UK literary luminaries as the international best selling crime thriller writer Peter James, whose own work knocked the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy off the top of the UK paperback bestseller list. He writes, "Snap Peter Jarrette in half and you’ll find the name Brighton repeated in his bones like in sticks of rock. His glorious evocation is so rich and vivid, you can taste and smell the city on every page." Jarrette does indeed feel deeply connected to Brighton and has embraced the new WeJIT technology as a unique means of communicating his insights about the City to his readers, whether it be in the field of festivals, travel and tourism or debating the best remedies for the homeless of his adopted City.
Brighton Babylon is redolent with dark humour, such that top writer and journalist Julie Burchill believes that, "Peter Jarrette is a shockingly fresh voice offering a modern social commentary poured with humour and served with a splash of poignancy. A Sex and The City for a fresh and funky century." This is perhaps not altogether surprising since Jarrette previously lived in New York where he was friendly with Candace Bushnell for many years. Burchill considers Brighton Babylon to be an "EXCELLENT book" that "will do for my 'burg what SEX AND THE CITY did for NYC."
Jarrette's UK publishers, Dynasty Press, note that as well as participating in debates directly with the author, readers of the Brighton Babylon ebook can forward the URL link for any embedded WeJIT to anyone, through social networks like Facebook or Twitter, even to those who don’t yet have the book and might not have heard of it.
“What’s fascinating is that readers themselves are actually positioned to increase book sales by inviting others to join in specific discussions launched from within the ebook,” said a Dynasty representative. “We believe this is a genuine first in the publishing world."
According to Richard Lang, CEO of Democrasoft, “The opportunity that WeJITs represent for the publishing industry is to recognize that WeJITs can become a portal to new ‘real estate’ within an ebook, where publishers can participate in the benefits of multi-way collaborative discussions within their publications.”
Brighton Babylon is available from Dynasty http://www.dynastypress.co.uk/books-brighton-babylon.html also on Amazon and Apple’s iBookstore.

TVI AND THE WORLD'S FIRST TRULY INTERACTIVE BOOK!

The world’s first truly interactive book club

Author Peter JarretteAuthor Peter Jarrette
A Brighton author is to become the first in the country to release an interactive novel online.
Peter Jarrette’s new e-book, Brighton Babylon, is being released using new technology that allows readers to communicate directly with the author and with each other.
Links are embedded within the book on various subjects connected with the chapters and readers will be able to join online forums, ask Mr Jarrette questions or give their opinions in various structured discussions.
Mr Jarrette, who lives in Brighton, said: “I already use social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter so I am used to talking to people about what I do but this is something different and I'm really looking forward to seeing the reaction. It should help us to reach a much wider audience and be really interesting.
“It could also help with tourism and boosting visitors as places in the city are referenced in the book.”
The system, called WeJIT, has been developed by technology specialist Democrasoft. Mr Jarrette’s publishers, Dynasty Press, said readers can forward the URL link for any embedded WeJIT to anyone, even to those who do not yet have the book.
