Press Release Date: 1/10/12 Absolute Brighton Magazine Sold
To Large City Publishing Firm High--end
city lifestyle magazine, Absolute Brighton, has today
confirmed the sale of the publication to
Pinnacle Publishers based in Brighton and Newhaven. The
brainchild of married couple Verity &
Paul Craig, Absolute Brighton Magazine was founded 8 years
ago as a monthly title; Verity & Paul
remain with an interest in the company (as Brand
Ambassadors). Speaking on completion of the
sale, Managing Director Paul Craig said: “I am pleased to
confirm that Absolute Brighton Magazine
has today been sold to Pinnacle Publishing. This is an
exciting acquisition for Alan Prior and
his team to add to their portfolio of titles while also
being an exciting time for Absolute
Brighton with an expansion set to increase its success.
Verity and I recognized for some time
that Absolute Brighton had huge potential and are pleased
that Pinnacle are the group willing
and able to take on this task. This is a competitive
marketplace, and Pinnacle are an experienced
publishing house with the necessary skills and experience
making them able to assist Absolute
Brighton in growing further.
I am also grateful that he is able to take on the existing
Absolute Brighton team so there are
no jobs lost in these rather austere times. I wish Alan
(Prior) and his team every success with
Absolute Brighton.”
The look, feel and concept of the magazine will remain the
same, targeting the existing audience.
Alan (Prior) has invited existing Editor, Verity Craig, to
continue her editorship, with her
and Paul (Craig) also taking on the role as Ambassadors for
the magazine. Verity said: “The
past eight years have been an exciting and groundbreaking
time for the world of publishing in
Brighton & Hove; it has been a privilege to be at the
heart of it. I am honoured that Alan has
asked me to remain as Editor of Absolute Brighton. Although
there is change ahead for Absolute
Brighton with a new successful publishing group at the helm,
Alan (Prior) and I are adamant that
the content of Absolute Brighton remains with the same core
notion and perception throughout.
I intend to retain the same columnists and features, but of
course in addition I look forward
to introducing new features over the coming months. Our
readers and advertisers alike are what
sustain the magazine on the platform it is privileged to
have, and so I recognize the importance
of taking on board their opinions while also not being
foolish in making any unnecessary drastic
changes for the sake of it. I can’t help but feel this is an
exciting time for Absolute Brighton.
In what is a competitive environment, it has been a
consistent magazine throughout the years and
deserves to have the stage it is about to receive. Absolute
Brighton has been an honour to create
each month with my constant and professional team
(especially my right hand lady Mo Hunter--Shine)
who have all shown such enthusiasm and passion for the title
since conception; we shall all continue
with this attitude and assignment. I would like to use this
opportunity to wholeheartedly thank
my tremendous team, our loyal readers and our supportive
advertisers; you have each made Absolute
Brighton what it is today. I would also like to recognize
colleagues and business associates
that we have worked closely with throughout the years,
including PRs, writers, photographers
and sponsors that we have been involved with. It is with a
full heart that I now look forward
to Absolute Brighton increasing on its success, readership
and overall attainment. ”
